Prof. Howard Davis
Howard Davis is Professor of Architecture at the University of Oregon. He has university degrees in physics and an M.Arch. from the University of California, Berkeley.
He is the author of
THE CULTURE OF BUILDING (Oxford University Press, New York, 1999)
and the co-author, with Christopher Alexander and others, of
THE PRODUCTION OF HOUSES (Oxford University Press, New York, 1985).
He carries out professional projects in the areas of housing, community development, and educational facilities; and research in the areas of building history, vernacular architecture, urban buildings, and architectural education.
His teaching is concerned with the relationships between architecture and culture, and the design of buildings for new institutions.
