Tom Hanchett founded the "Certificate in Historic Preservation" program at Youngstown State University in Ohio, and now teaches urban history and historic preservation at Cornell University.
His book Sorting Out The New South City: Race, Class and Urban Development in Charlotte, 1875 - 1975 will be published by University of North Caolina Press in late summer 1998.
